Act of Kindness

Smiling sun

Ever wonder what your parents and grandparents were like when they were your age?  Why don't you ask them?  Sit down with your parents or grandparents and ask them questions about their lives when they were younger.  Ask your grandparents about your parents' answers, see if the answers are the same. Be ready, what you hear may surprise you.

Here are some questions to get you started!

  1. When and where were you born?
  2. How did your parents choose your name? Did you have any nicknames?
  3. Tell me about the house and neighborhood where you grew up.
  4. Did you have pets? What kind?
  5. What were your favorite foods as a kid?
  6. What were your favorite and least favorite subjects in school?
  7. What kind of games did you play growing up?
  8. How were holidays (birthdays, Christmas, Hanukkah, etc.) celebrated in your family growing up?
  9. What did you want to be when you grew up?
  10. Did you go on vacation, and where was your favorite place to go?
  11. Did you like to play sports?
  12. What was your first job?
  13. What did you do after high school — go to college, trade school, join the military?
  14. Where have you lived?
  15. How did you meet Grandma/Grandpa? How did you get engaged?
  16. What do you remember most about your wedding day?
  17. Tell me about the day we first met each other.
  18. What’s been your favorite age to be?
  19. Looking back at your life, what are you most proud of?
