On October 26, learn about the rise and fall of the Roman Empire.

 

On October 27, hear about the French Revolution and Napoleon.

 

On November 2, discover the Franco-Prussian War and the rise of Imperial Germany.

How much history can you learn from a song? Join professors Lloyd Kaplan and Dr. Tom Shaker to explore the stories popular music tells about the 20s, 30s, 40s & 50s on Tuesdays at 2 p.m

 

On September 20, hear songs about Prohibition and Women’s Rights.

 

On September 27, explore music about the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression.

 

On October 4, discover tunes about World War II and Suburbia.

 

On October 11, come for melodies about Teenagers and Civil Rights.

 

Gardening Club

June is Native Plants Month!

Karen Asher will be here for a discussion on ecosystem gardening with Rhode Island native plants. 

Karen is a native plant specialist and former president of the Rhode Island Wild Plant Society. She holds a certificate in native plant studies with a focus on field botany from the Native Plant Trust and she volunteers in its plant conservation program assessing the status of rare species in Rhode Island. She has published numerous articles on native plants.

History Book Group
