Library Services

The library is open for browsing. Masks are required while visiting the library and we ask that patrons limit their time in the building to 60 minutes. Seating in the Quiet Study area, the Glass Rooms, and the Magazine area is not available.

State regulations for opening to the public allows for up to 206 patrons in the designated space.


Patrons can place items on hold using the library catalog, by calling the library or by email.

Item Pickup or Curbside Pickup

You will receive a notification when your items are ready for pickup. Items can be picked up inside the library or you can call to schedule a time for curbside pickup.

Curbside Pickup at Apponaug, Conimicut and Norwood

Curbside pickup of holds or available items is available at each branch during the open hours listed above.  To place a hold, use the online catalog, call the branch during their open hours or call the Central Library at 401-739-5440.

Stacks Open for Browsing

You may browse for books and DVDs but please maintain social distancing guidelines and limit one person per aisle. Please limit your time in the building to 60 minutes.

Item Returns and Late Fees

You may return items at anytime in the outside bookdrop or the drive up bookdrop. All returned items will be held in quarantine for 72 hours before being checked in. There will be no late fees at this time.

Children's and Teen Services

The Children's Library is open for browsing. 

TeenSpace is open for browsing. Two computers are located in the TeenSpace for use by teens for up to one hour per day.  All Teen programming will be virtual, please refer to the Teen webpage for details. There is no seating available in the TeenSpace.


Eight computers are available, limited to one hour per patron, per day.  If a computer is not available please make a reservation with a Librarian. Please wait for your reserved computer outside of the building.


Black and white pages cost 15 cents each, color pages cost 50 cents each. Cash only.

Technology Help

For Tech Help, please schedule an appointment by calling 401-739-5440 x4.

Copy Services

Self service color and black and white copy services available. Black and white copies are $.20 and color copies are $.50 each. We will not be able to provide change for the coin machine.

Fax and Scan Services

Self service fax and scan services available. We cannot provide change for the coin machine, but credit cards are accepted for self service fax and scan services.
