Join Christopher Scott Martin and David Norton Stone for a presentation on Rhode Island Clam Shacks on Wednesday, March 21 at 7 p.m.
In the 1800s, steamships carried hungry travelers up and down Narragansett Bay to clambakes and shore dinner halls, and in the 20th century, Rhode Islanders hopped in their automobiles for clam cakes and chowder at clam shacks and chowder houses at the beach and on the waterfront.
See historic photos of local eateries in the past and present, and hear tales of the time-honored recipes that bring long lines to take-out windows every summer.
Christopher Scott Martin is the curator of the website Quahog.org. David Norton Stone is the author of Clamcake Summer, Stuffie Summer, and Chowder Summer. They are co-authors of Rhode Island Clam Shacks.
This event is free and open to all. Drop in for a fun time.
