Rosemary’s Baby by Ira Levin

Reviewed by:

The book begins when a young couple, Guy and Rosemary Woodhouse, move into an apartment on Manhattan’s upper West Side.  Rosemary and her husband, an aspiring young actor, are extremely happy about the move.

In the apartment next door are an elderly couple named Minnie and Roman Castevet.  A seemingly friendly couple, they unfortunately belong to a witches’ coven.  Unknown to Rosemary, Minnie and Roman make an offer to Rosemary’s husband.  Guy Woodhouse is a very ambitious actor, who just missed out on a good part on Broadway to another young actor.  Guy literally makes a deal with the devil.

The book was written in 1967. Later it was made into a movie in the 70’s. I would say this is one of the best books I have ever read.

Rosemary’s Baby is available on the Ezone as an ebook and on Hoopla as an audiobook.
