Star Wars: Darth Bane - Path of Destruction is a novel written by Drew Karpyshyn, set 1,000 years before the events of George Lucas' Star Wars movies. The dark lords of the Sith, led by Kaan and his Brotherhood of Darkness are at war with the Jedi Order, led by General Hoth and his Army of Light. Numbering in the thousands, they fight a devastating war that threatens to consume the Old Republic and the rest of the galaxy. However, our story follows a man named Dessel, an enslaved miner on the Outer Rim planet of Apatros as he slowly realizes his connection to the Force and dawning the name, Darth Bane. Eventually coming to a conclusion that will have repercussions affecting the galaxy for well over a thousand years.

This book is very much focused on the character of Darth Bane, showing his mindset and how it slowly changes over time with new experiences and information revealed to him. His character development is genuinely fleshed out in each point of his life and gives great context and motivation for his actions towards the end of the book. It does a great job expanding on the universe of Star Wars before the events of the Skywalker family and even provides interesting parallels between Darth Bane and the heroes of those movies. I highly recommend giving this book a read, especially if you're interested in the expanded universe of Star Wars.

This book is available as an ebook or audiobook on the Ezone.
