All Quiet on the Westward Front (1979) is an adaptation of the book by the same name, is a harrowing and honest story of a German solider in World War I. The film shows the violence and pointlessness of war with only an honest portrayl, proving that any true war story is inherantly anti-war. The film is unique as the cast and extras consistented of german veterans who were able to provide their own experiences while reenacting what they did themselves years prior. The film does not hold back in portraying the terror and injustices of war, and the lies that convinced young men to give their lives for a war they had no say in.
