The Giver is a fairly written and interesting story about a young boy, Jonas, who lives in a large community free of crime and sadness. When someone turns 12, they are assigned their jobs, which they will end up training for and doing for the rest of their lives. Literally, everything is chosen for you; from your parents to who your spouse will be. Starting this off, as a dystopian novel, this novel is great! It doesn’t speak down to you or go on and on about small details. The Giver focuses on some deep topics like how does society treat those that don’t agree? As well as many other topics. The way this novel is written makes me very happy. I liked the book's plot as well as the presentation of the characters.
