Now this is easily the best one (so far.) The CGI is the best in the franchise, the human characters are surprisingly likable, and the the action blends itself with the characters very well. This movie does have failed attempts at comedy and dramatic weight, but when it embraces its awesomeness rather than its story, it knocks it out of the park. Skull Island is such a deadly and mysterious place that it’s hard not to feel bad for these characters as they’re trapped on the island. Samuel L. Jackson and John C. Riley’s characters are the best in the movie, but Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson’s characters are very bland. They’re fairly emotionless and have little motivation whatsoever. Kong, though, is really the best one. He has motivation, emotion, and of course: awesome fight scenes. He also eats a squid, which is cool. Overall, everyone needs to see this movie. Like, right now.
