If you've read the story of "Beowulf" in your high school or middle school days, you may have heard of the giant, vicious, threatening monster, Grendel. Grendel's always killing the king's warriors for no reason. Not even killing for food. It seems that Grendel would just kill for fun. But in the book, "Grendel," by John Gardner, it takes you on a journey based on Grendel's point of view of the world, where you'll learn how Grendel developed into a dangerous monster. This book is very satire and full of philosophical wonders and interactions between Grendel and the creatures around him, including Beowulf. Although a lot of Grendel's actions are gruesome and questionable, it still makes you feel kind of sad because of the way he lives and how he is treated as an outcast.
