Batman The Long Halloween was a storyline that DC comics ran during the late 90s, and then collected into a graphic novel under the same name. The story was written by Jeph Loeb and the artist on the series was Tim Sale. It was met with criminal acclaim when it came out and still holds up to this day. It took Batman as a character, back to his roots because he was up against normal thugs and murderers instead of flashy supervillains that he is put up against today. He is just a man fighting a mysterious new murderer called Holiday in The Long Halloween, and it felt very nostalgic for some reason. Like every graphic novel, the art is probably what is going to make you want to check it out and see what's inside. I think that Sale’s art makes the story better, and fits perfectly with the dark themes in the story. The way he draws Batman and the environments have an almost scary warped look to them. The main story and the villain it introduces are both very good, although I wish that they could delve more into the origins of him which is hard to talk about without spoiling anything. I give the graphic novel a 7/10 and would recommend it to anyone that wants to read comics, or even if they are a long time fan of them.
