Call Us What We Carry by Amanda Gorman

Call Us What We Carry is a book filled with many poems that tackle the problems that Covid-19 brought upon the world. The book is hard to put down, and I was turning page after page analyzing each stanza and line. I was in awe at how her phrases were so relatable with respect to the problems that arose in 2020 and 2021. She spoke about society, climate change, Black Lives Matter, and other important topics that arose. Her syntax, alliteration, imagery, and poem structure were interesting to read. It made the poems inspiring and captivating. I definitely recommend reading this book, as it was good to relax and unwind.
