“Love surpasses death.” I feel like the movie is a metaphor, in a sense, for this theme. Victor was going to get married to Victoria but then, when in the forest, was welcomed by death where he met Emily. As the movie goes on, he finds that he truly doesn’t love Emily like that, wanting to continue the wedding with Victoria. Death was supposed to wreck the marriage yet love was triumphant and therefore saved them both. It, of course, may very well not be this theme at all, but I believe that it’s what it may show in some grand sense. While yes, he may have been greeted by death in a sense, his determination to be married to Victoria helped him pursue it.
