Scythe is an incredibly engaging book. I couldn’t put it down from the beginning to the end. The story takes place in the future where the government is run by a robot and humans are nearly immortal, so in order to prevent overpopulation, some people are given the job of killing others. The book brings up many different moral questions that are left up to the reader to decide on because while their society seems perfect at times, including questions about the human spirit, corruption in the government, and what qualifies a humane way to die. This story will leave you thinking long after it ends, and other books in the series are equally engaging. One issue that some readers may have is that there is a lot of violence and death. I’d recommend it to anyone who’s a fan of dystopian novels like The Hunger Games.
