Wieland is a gothic novel with an engaging plot with many twists and genuinely intriguing mysteries. The story is satisfying to read and the ending is very emotional. It focuses on Clara’s family and her close friends as Clara begins to grapple with love for the first time while many inexplicable events happen around her and her peers. The book keeps you questioning about higher powers and whether gods, good or evil, truly exist. The characters are easy to connect with and the mystery is encapsulating. The book, however, is very wordy. The descriptions are lengthy and intricate and the language is partially outdated. While this book is engaging, it may be a challenging read for some people. .
