War Lord by Bernard Cornwell

One book I read was a historical fiction loosely based on true events. The title of the novel is War Lord by Bernard Cornwell. This book is the last in Cornwell’s The Last Kingdom series, but also my favorite. This is a great story about medieval wars and diplomacy. The main character, Uhtred, who as the title suggests is a war lord, is put into many dangerous and suspenseful situations. Close calls from near death experiences left plenty of action for me to enjoy. Some characters are based on real people, others made up by the author, but it gives this semi-realistic feel to the story, combined with a background knowledge about medieval wars left me starstruck.
