(Trigger/content warnings for cancer, death, drowning, and suicide)   We Are Okay by Nina Lacour - Marin is trying to make a new life for herself after running away and not speaking to anyone from her old life. She has a roommate in college and she's trying to get a job, which she does eventually at an amazing place, she's honestly just trying to live from day to day. When everyone leaves for winter break she is alone. There are a few people left in the dorms but not a lot. She is stuck waiting because her best friend Mabel whom she also hasn't spoken to is on her way to see her. When Mabel arrives will Marin share the reasons why she left everything and everyone? We Are Okay is a short book about finding out the people you used to love were something way far off than what you believed them to be. It is a book about learning to move on and learning to be with yourself and with your grief. It is also a book about loneliness, heavy and over-powering loneliness, nauseating and suffocating. We Are Okay is definitely not an action-packed story, it is not in your face. This is a book to feel, hurt, and heal.
