Cinder by Marissa Meyer

This book is one of my ABSOLUTE favorites. Retellings aren’t usually my preference, but this book achieved the perfect balance of sticking to the old story and adding a modern twist. Cinder is the perfect protagonist, likable but not without flaws. The other characters are all developed perfectly, with even the smallest characters having importance to the plot. There were so many shocking plot twists throughout, some so surprising that I had to flip back through the book to see the clues leading up to it! The plot progressed at the perfect speed, not too slow and boring but not so fast that it was hard to keep up, and it was very easy to read with only a few advanced words thrown in.
