In the year 1770, Rachel Marsh, a fourteen year old servant for John Adams, finds herself caught up in the drama leading up to the infamous Boston Massacre. Of that drama includes her meeting a young British soldier whom she develops a dangerous friendship with, this friendship tests her loyalty to the family she serves to, the Adams Family. This book helps young readers like me learn about what the Boston Massacre was really like, but some additional, fictional events really add in that needed source of self-addiction to the story. When I was reading, I did not realize that the author actually included non-fictional characters in this book, which was very helpful because I later learned about some of them in social studies class. This book is a great way for young teens to be introduced to what life was like in these historic time periods. Overall, it was an excellent book that I would recommend to any young historian!
