"It Ends with Us" is a powerful novel by recently popular author, Colleen Hoover. The book dives into complex themes regarding domestic violence, self-discovery, and forgiveness all in one. Hoover does this in a way that is thought-provoking and emotionally captivating. The story follows Lily Bloom, a young florist who has experienced domestic violence in her past and is in dire need to break the abuse cycle. When she meets Ryle Kincaid, a charming neurosurgeon at her work, she falls deeply, uncontrollably in love. But as their relationship progresses, she sees familiar warning signs of abuse she had previously experienced. This book stands out in the way it tells the story and explores the complexity of abusive relationships. While reading, you feel as if you’re the one trapped in this toxic cycle, and it makes you wonder what could happen next by either party and what you yourself would do. Each chapter is told from a different point of view, allowing you to have a deeper understanding of each character’s raw emotions. As a reader, you’re taken on this journey of healing and growth, as Lily must come to terms with her past and make choices about her future. However, she doesn’t do this all on her own. She is engulfed with someone from her past when she least expects it and must learn to balance these opposing souls in her life. Will she break the cycle and find herself? Find out in “It Ends With Us”. I could not put this book down and would recommend it to anyone who feels comfortable with the heavy subject matter and enjoys a rollercoaster ride of a novel. ***This book is shelved in the adult section of the library.  It may not be appropriate for all readers.
