Dog Day Afternoon set a precedent for films alike that came after this, all trying to mimic the perfection that is Dog Day Afternoon. All taking place in one day and based off of a true story, the plot follows Al Pacino as Sonny and his counterpart John Cazale as Sal, two bank robbers attempting to rob a Brooklyn bank. If not for Al Pacino this wouldn't have had the impact that it had. His performance made the viewer genuinely feel bad for a criminal who is so clearly in the wrong. The entire movie takes place in (mainly) one building, but the plot never gets boring or slows down.
