I have finally gotten around to reading this book and enjoyed it quite much. We all know the story from the iconic movie, but that is just a tiny sliver of what is contained in the book. The book has many more places the characters visit, more people they meet, and a much different story. Unlike the movie, there is no central villain. They all end off their rein as villains after usually only a chapter if not less. The overarching goal is to get back to Kansas, and instead of having a villain, the characters have to deal with many obstacles along the way, all of which are unique and interesting. The book is very well written and very interesting to read, with a very diverse cast of characters who all join Dorothy in helping her get back to Kansas, all with their own goals, desires, and wishes they want to be granted. Overall, this book was an interesting, but very odd read. I see why it was an instant classic.
